Starting or Stopping?

I’ve found that sometimes, the toughest hurdle is starting…
-Learning a new skill
-Launching a new business
-Initiating a creative project
Other times, the hardest part is stopping
-Breaking an unhealthy habit
-Leaving an unsatisfying job
-Ending a bad relationship
In both cases, our fear holds us back to try to avoid the imagined pain.
We focus on how hard it will be, what could go wrong and why we’re not ready instead of how great it will be, what could go right, and how we’ll grow in the process.
I know this because my fears and doubts have held me back countless times.
I don’t want to fail
I try to avoid uncertainty
I struggle with perfectionism
The best decisions I’ve made often felt the hardest in the moment.
But in all cases, the change I wanted came rapidly when I moved from indecision to action.
I made the leap that once felt impossible
I escaped a job I wasn’t passionate about
I started the business I’d dreamt about for years!
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that fear gets quieter when we take action.
And the first step is becoming aware of how much it is limiting us.
It all starts with these questions:
What’s holding you back from starting the thing you’ve been dreaming about?
What’s preventing you from stopping the thing you know you’re done with?
And is that fear bigger than your dreams?
If you're feeling stuck and not sure if starting or stopping is the right move for you...let's talk!
